Roles and Responsibilities:
The Chautauqua County Sports Fishery Advisory Board assists and advises County and local governments on how to plan for increased access to the shoreline, provides information on fishing to the general public, and works with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation in their efforts to protect and develop fishery resources. In addition, since 1992, the board has held an annual fishing essay contest for students in grades 3 through 6 to help promote and raise awareness about fishing.


The board can have between 10 and 15 members and currently consists of 10 members, who are appointed by the County Executive and subject to the approval of the County Legislature. Members serve a 2-year term and current members include:
